Specifics of Ruto’s talks with the prime minister of Iraq and the president of Finland

President William Ruto held meetings with several leaders during the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Sunday, focusing on collaboration with their respective countries.

In his discussion with Finnish President Alexander Stabb, Ruto emphasized the strong bilateral ties between Kenya and Finland, stating, “We are keen on enhancing our partnership to empower our citizens as well as advance global goals such as peace, security, and climate action.” President Stabb echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of UN reform and stating, “The choice is simple: multilateral cooperation or multipolar disorder.”

During a meeting with Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Ruto discussed enhancing trade and investment between the two nations, which includes initiatives in education, Special Economic Zones, and labor agreements. He remarked, “Kuwait has established itself as a valuable partner to Kenya in matters of development.”

Additionally, Ruto met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani to discuss opening a Kenyan Embassy in Iraq and deepening relations. He expressed Kenya’s commitment to securing markets for its tea, coffee, and beef in the Arab nation, stating, “Our broader focus is to secure market for our tea, coffee and beef.”

Ruto’s delegation included former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi. Further engagements with other leaders are expected throughout the event.
