Dickson Ndiema, a former partner of Ugandan athlete Rebecca Cheptegei, passed away on Monday night while receiving treatment at a hospital in Eldoret. Ndiema was accused of pouring petrol on Cheptegei following an unresolved argument and setting her on fire.

The Ugandan Olympic runner, aged 33, succumbed to her injuries on September 5, 2024, after sustaining burns to 80 percent of her body, which resulted in total organ failure. The tragic incident occurred at Cheptegei’s home in Endebess, Trans-Nzoia County, and was reportedly witnessed by her daughters. Ndiema also suffered burns and had been hospitalized in Eldoret until his death.
