Stop the high-octane politics, leaders of Mount Kenya are urged by DP Gachagua.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday urged Mt Kenya region leaders to move away from what he described as high-octane politics. Speaking during a church service in Baricho, Kirinyaga County, Gachagua emphasized the need for leaders to concentrate on development rather than political maneuvering.

“The elections are over, and the next election cycle is in 2027. Those elected should focus on their duties; when the time comes, aspirants will seek support from the people. Kenyans are perceptive and will make their decisions at the ballot,” he said.

Gachagua continued, “We need to reduce the high-octane politics in the Mt Kenya region. Other regions are calm and focused on development.”

He also called for a reduction in divisive politics and stressed the importance of working together for the country’s progress. “The voters will decide in the next election cycle. Let us be kind, do good deeds, and focus on development,” the DP added.

Gachagua advised leaders to acknowledge and reciprocate good deeds despite political differences. His remarks come amid political tensions in Mt Kenya, with some leaders distancing themselves from him and backing Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki as a potential successor to President William Ruto. This situation has heightened tensions and set the stage for a possible political rivalry between CS Kindiki and DP Gachagua over control of Central region politics.
