Sudan, unable to host matches at home due to ongoing civil war, managed a 1-0 victory over Niger in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match on Wednesday. Sudan’s only goal came from Abo Eisa in the 51st minute. With the ongoing conflict, Sudan’s national team has been training and playing abroad, and the match was held in Juba, the capital of neighboring South Sudan.
In other Group F action, Sudan’s win was the sole victory of the day, as the other three matches ended in draws. Comoros, lacking an international-standard stadium, hosted Gambia in El Jadida, Morocco. Youssouf M’Changama put Comoros ahead in the 37th minute, but Musa Barrow equalized for Gambia in added time, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
The match between Libya and Rwanda in Tripoli ended 1-1. Subhi al Dhawi scored for Libya in the 17th minute, while Innocent Nshuli equalized for Rwanda two minutes into the second half.
In Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Ethiopia played to a goalless draw with Ethiopia failing to record a shot on target.
Thursday will feature seven more qualifiers, including matches involving four former African champions: Algeria, Congo Brazzaville, Ghana, and Tunisia.
