Businessman Jaswant Singh Rai has been released unharmed by his alleged abductors, his lawyers have confirmed.

The Kabras Sugar owner and Uganda-based Sarrai Group was on Friday, August 25, 2023, kidnapped in broad daylight by unknown people in Kilimani Nairobi in unclear circumstances while in traffic.

The family had made a report of a missing person through the daughter, at Kilimani police station, Occurrence Book (OB) number 21/26/08/2023.

Jaswant’s kidnap was captured on a CCTV camera on Wood Avenue, Kilimani, where he was seen being pulled off a vehicle and forced into an awaiting car.

The footage showed a grey double-cabin pick-up intercepting his vehicle at a junction.

Later, two men dressed in black alighted and accosted him. A back-and-forth ensued between Rai and the abductors, however, he was overpowered and forced into the vehicle before they drove off.
