Supermarlins, Crawford School Rule Kiambu Swimming Championship

Supermarlins swim club and Crawford School dominated the Kiambu Level One Aquatic Swimming championship held at the Mpesa Academy in Thika.

Supermarlins bagged the overall title with 72 points. Crawford was second on 65 points as Nova Pioneer rounded off the podium positions.

In the boys’ category, Supermarlins topped the charts with 51 points as Hydrolift settled for second position after accumulating 25 points.Genesis Sports Club wrapped up the top three with 18 points.

In the girls’ category, Crawford took the top honours with 37 points.Nova Pioneer came second in 19 points while Loreto Convent Valley Road was placed third in 17 points.

Leon Mwenda of Marlins Super Club topped the points table in the 12-13 years category with 86 points as Dustin Mouhammadi of Crawford School led all scorers in the 14-15 age group with 71 points.

Crawford School coach Omar Omari lauded the performance of his charges in the two-day event.

“It was a competitive event.  We trained hard in the run to the championship and more is yet to come from this group of swimmers,” Omari said.

He observed that World Aquatic accredited swimming coaches will be arriving in April for a three-day clinic to upgrade the skills of local swimming coaches.

Kiambu Aquatics Public Relations Officer Nesmus Mbati said a substantial number of swimmers have qualified for the level two championship slated for February 10-11 at the same venue.
