A man was arrested on Friday in Wajir for allegedly breaking into a telecommunications company and siphoning diesel. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that while the man was apprehended, his accomplices managed to escape.

Officers acted on intelligence regarding the break-in in the Halane area. Upon receiving the information, they swiftly responded and caught the suspect in the act of siphoning diesel from the company. However, his accomplices fled into the darkness, leaving him to face the consequences.

The operation resulted in the recovery of three full 20-litre jerrycans and one half-full jerrycan of siphoned diesel, along with 14 empty 20-litre jerrycans and a siphoning pipe. The suspect is currently being held at Wajir Police Station for processing, and efforts to locate his accomplices are ongoing.
