Police in Kisumu have arrested a suspect believed to be involved in the stabbing death of a GSU officer over the weekend in the Manyatta slums, Kisumu Central sub-county.
A multi-agency team is actively pursuing the suspect’s accomplice, who has reportedly gone into hiding after the crime.
The suspect, Ronald Liwind, also known as Ronny, was apprehended at his rural home in Asembo, Siaya County, where he had fled following the incident.
During the arrest, police recovered various crude weapons and jungle uniforms. Liwind is currently detained at Kondele Police Station and faces murder charges.
Authorities are also intensifying efforts to capture his alleged accomplice, David Nyeuse, who remains at large.
The victim, GSU officer Calvince Omondi, who was based in West Pokot, had returned home during his off-duty period.
He was fatally stabbed multiple times in Manyatta on Sunday night under unclear circumstances. Another man who was with him narrowly escaped death but sustained stab wounds during the attack.
