A 36-year-old suspected chicken thief has died after he was subjected to mob justice in Siaya County.
The man was accused of allegedly stealing chicken at Diraho village located in Doho West sub-location in Ugenya.
Emmanuel Otieno Ong’wen was pronounced dead at Ukwala sub county hospital where he was rushed for treatment.
Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said the incident was reported at Ukwala police station.
“The matter was reported by the area Assistant Chief Henry Oduor. The man was rescued from the irate mob but later died,” Kimaiyo said.
Kimaiyo stated that the suspect’s body which had deep cuts was taken to the facility’s mortuary awaiting autopsy and further probe.
