Suspected thugs broke into the office of Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah on Saturday night.

The Senator, on Sunday, confirmed to Citizen that the break-in was at his Busia office, where the unknown people walked away with electronic devices.

Omtatah says he reported the matter to the police, but no action has been taken so far.

The Senator is currently leading a petition against the Finance Act 2023, which remains suspended after a High Court order.

The Act raises VAT on petroleum products from 8% to 16% among a raft of other revenue-raising measures through taxes.
