Kenya’s delegation for the 23rd Africa Senior Athletics Championships has arrived safely in Douala, Cameroon, in preparation for the event scheduled to commence on Friday, June 21.

Athletics Kenya officially sent off the contingent, comprising 59 athletes, on Wednesday, who will represent the nation across various events during the championships.

Each event will see two Kenyan participants competing, with the championship serving as a crucial platform for athletes to attain qualifying marks for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.

Notably, three-time national 100m champion Mark Otieno, alongside Meshack Babu, is among the standout athletes aiming to meet the Olympic qualifying standard of 10 seconds. Both athletes showcased remarkable performances at the recent Athletics Kenya Olympic trials, with Otieno clocking 10.12 seconds and Babu recording 10.20 seconds.

Other notable athletes eyeing the opportunity include Boniface Mweresa in the 400m, Mike Mokamba in the 200m, and Rukia Nusra in the 100m hurdles.
