Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged the National Police Service and officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to uphold professionalism and remain apolitical in their duties.

“The DCI should avoid regressing into harassment of political leaders. They must act professionally and address crime in accordance with the law. By adhering to the Constitution, Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code (CPC), and the Evidence Act, they will ensure higher professionalism,” he said.

Speaking at a church service in Embakasi Central, Nairobi County, on Sunday, Gachagua emphasized the importance of respecting and listening to Kenyans. “Kenyans are supreme and deserve to be heard and treated with respect without discrimination,” he stated.

He continued, “Good leadership involves listening to the people, understanding their views and aspirations. Leaders should align with the people’s aspirations and be truthful. Kenyans are intelligent and can no longer be deceived.”

Gachagua, who was attending the consecration service of a newly built church, urged leaders to embrace servant leadership. “Let us work for Kenyans with humility, stop undermining others, and practice empathy. Kenyans are the taxpayers and employers of their leaders,” he added.

He also called on Kenyans to pray for President William Ruto, asking for divine wisdom and grace for him and other leaders as they guide the country forward. “This is our country. Let us continue to pray for our President and leaders, and support each other while creating opportunities for others,” Gachagua said.

Additionally, the Deputy President assured that the government will address the concerns of property owners affected by house demolitions.
