Detectives have apprehended ten suspects believed to be involved in a series of break-ins across Nairobi and its surrounding areas.

The arrests were made during a joint operation following investigations into multiple cases of violent robbery and murder reported by victims. Citizen TV obtained critical CCTV footage that is now being examined as part of the evidence.

On Sunday, August 11, 2024, CCTV footage captured a gang of five disembarking from a car and entering a godown along the Eastern Bypass in Nairobi. The gang reportedly carried out a four-hour robbery, during which they threatened and bound security guards, terrorizing them throughout the ordeal. After nearly five hours of violence, the suspects stole goods of undetermined value and prepared them for transport.

Shortly after, one of the suspects drove away the private vehicle used to reach the scene, likely to alert a standby driver. Within ten minutes, their accomplices arrived in a blue canter to load the stolen items and transport them to an unknown location. By the time police arrived, the suspects had already fled.

According to the godown attendants, the stolen items included oil and lubricants. Similar incidents have been reported on various dates in April and July 2024, with the gang allegedly stealing goods worth millions of shillings and committing murder in some cases.

A similar robbery occurred at a godown in Mwiki and Kamulu, where the gang employed the same tactics. In the Kamulu incident, one security guard was severely injured and killed while the suspects stole cartons of nails and barbed wire.

Following these cases, detectives arrested a ten-man gang believed to be behind the reported break-ins.
A search at one of the suspects’ houses within Murera in Juja saw the recovery of more than four hundred cartons of products believed to be proceeds of crime.

Investigators from the Nairobi Area Crime Branch, who were profiling the suspects, also recovered four motor vehicles connected to the godown break-ins.
All ten suspects are currently detained at Kasarani Police Station awaiting court process come Friday.
