Residents in Marimanti, Tharaka Nithi County have raised concern over escalating crime.

In recent weeks, Marimanti town has faced a wave of violent crime, leaving residents in fear.

“We demand urgent intervention from the authorities. We need swift action from law enforcement agencies,” a resident told Citizen Digital.

In one case, a resident recounted a terrifying ordeal in which she was robbed of Ksh. 24,500 meant for school fees.

“The incident occurred at night in my home. I was left traumatized and financially strained,” she noted.

In another distressing event, another victim described how she lost Ksh. 30,000 at her shop.

In a separate incident, a lady was sexually assaulted in a rented house in Marimanti.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, police said that at least nine suspects are in custody over the acts of crime.

Area OCS Rono Koskei disclosed that they are trailing one suspect identified as Patrick Kimathi, who escaped the police dragnet.

Kimathi, who was set free three months ago, is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Meanwhile residents called for enhanced security measures and swift justice for the victims
