The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has invited bids from eligible contractors for a significant project aimed at improving one of the city’s most dangerous roads.
The project involves the construction of a two-lane Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line along the entire length of the Outer Ring Road in Nairobi County, which is approximately 10.5 kilometers long. It includes the construction of three river bridges and two overpass bridges, measuring about 1,024 meters and 323 meters, respectively, as well as 13 BRT stations.
Additional specifications for the project include:
– Construction of new footbridges and modifications to existing ones
– Installation of electro-mechanical works
– Development of a drainage system along the road
– Street lighting and landscaping improvements along the Outer Ring Road
The contractor will also be responsible for building a BRT depot with a floor area of approximately 1,365 square meters, including parking spaces, access roads, fences, and drains.
It is important to note that the project is restricted to firms from Korea, and the work must be completed within a 24-month timeframe.
