Visiting reggae maestro Glen Washington now says he is considering settling in Kenya. The Jamaican artist, who has been in the country for more than two weeks, feels that Kenya has become like home after acclimatizing to the climate and society.
“This is not my first time in the country. For this tour, I wanted to come in early to relax and explore. When I last performed in Kisumu, I was named Ochieng, so this definitely feels like home,” he told TNX. The ‘Strangers In The Night’ hitmaker mentioned that his band would also be arriving in the country next week ahead of several scheduled performances. “The Pamoja PERAK Festival in Nakuru will be massive for me, and I am excited to perform there. The love I have received so far is amazing,” he stated.
At a press conference, PERAK National Chairman Michael Muthami announced that the event would kick off a series of concerts held across the country, with the Mashujaa Day event headlined by Glen Washington, alongside a lineup of local artists.
“We are organizing this great event to mark our 20th anniversary celebrations since our inception. We believe the best way to celebrate this milestone is to go to cities outside the capital and give our members a platform to showcase their talents in the hospitality industry,” he said. “This will provide our members in the hospitality sector with an opportunity to network both nationally and globally to enhance their businesses. We will also use this occasion as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility to entertain less fortunate children from two children’s homes in Nakuru, as well as plant 5,000 trees in selected areas of Nakuru, an initiative that will be graced by Glen and Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika.”
