A family at Ngoingwa village in Thika, Kiambu County is now appealing for financial help to support the treatment of their daughter who is admitted at Hamad General Hospital in Qatar.

Ann Njeri, a daughter of Abraham Wambugu, has been undergoing treatment at the hospital after her liver got damaged beyond repair.

Njeri is set to undergo a liver transplant in India after her father volunteered to donate one of his livers to save her life.

But her poor family cannot raise the Ksh9 million that is required for her treatment abroad.

According to her father, Njeri left for Qatar in 2022 after she secured a job only to get sick while there.

“She had gone to Qatar for work but after a short period of service, she started feeling unwell and that is how she ended up at Hamad General Hospital,” Wambugu narrated.

Njeri has been under intensive care for more than a month but she recently got responsive.

Kiragu who has been struggling to come to terms with the pain that Njeri is going through said he has not been sleeping thinking about her progress.

Kiragu said he has already sold his assets but the money is far beyond the required amount, urging good Samaritans to come to her rescue to save the life of his daughter.

On her part, Ruth Wangui, an aunt to Njeri, said life took another turn when they got the news of her ailment while abroad, saying they have been spending sleepless nights thinking about her wellness.

“Njeri has been the hope of her family and her travel to Qatar signified that she would turn around the lives of her parents. Her sickness came to us as a shocker and some of us are still in disbelief that she has not been working. We have not been at peace and our hope is diminishing owing to huge amounts of money required for her treatment,” Wangui said.

The aunt added that while they have tried to raise the money through various means, the family cannot be able to raise the required amount.

Her sentiments were echoed by Sarah Karima, Njeri’s grandmother and Mary Wangari who narrated the painful story of the challenges they have been facing since she got sick.
