In a significant breakthrough, detectives from Kilimani have arrested three suspects linked to a high-profile burglary that occurred in Westlands, Nairobi, last month. The suspects, two women and a man, were apprehended in Kawangware. They are believed to have stolen cash and valuables worth millions from a South Sudanese national living on Rahpta Road, Westlands.
The burglary, which took place on September 24, saw the homeowner return to find her house in disarray, her housekeeper missing, and valuables, including USD 24,500 in cash, an iPhone 15, a Samsung Z Flip, and several pieces of jewelry, stolen. The incident was swiftly reported to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kilimani offices, triggering an immediate investigation.
Police reports indicate that a forensic trail led investigators to the suspects’ hideout, where they recovered various high-value items believed to be purchased using the proceeds from the crime. The recovered goods include a Boxer motorcycle, a 55-inch Vitron TV, a Hanmac microwave, an HP laptop, an NNix cooker oven, and a 6kg Pro gas cylinder. Among the items were also a five-seater sofa, a mattress, two watches, three brand-new Samsung A50 phones, and an agreement for the purchase of a parcel of land worth Sh423,000 in Kapkangani, Nandi County.
“Detectives seized several high-value items believed to have been purchased with proceeds from the crime,” the DCI said in a statement.
The suspects are currently in custody as authorities continue to search for potential accomplices and any remaining stolen items.
In a separate incident, DCI officers arrested three suspects involved in stupefying revelers. Following a tip-off received through the Fichua Kwa DCI hotline, a victim reported being drugged and robbed, with money withdrawn from his M-Pesa account. The swift investigation led to the arrest of two men and a woman, who are now in custody, awaiting arraignment.
