A 3-year-old child has died after allegedly consuming the remains of a green mamba snake in Kavuvwani B village, Kavuvwani location, Kitui County.

According to a police report on Saturday, the snake had been killed and burnt by the child’s grandfather, Salim Mwendwa, within their house compound. The child is said to have consumed the snake’s remains while under the care of the grandmother, Margret Nzangi Mwendwa.

Salim reported the incident at Mwingi Police Station, prompting officers to visit the homestead and document the scene. The child’s body has been moved to Mwingi Level IV Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem.
