Thursday power blackout update: 9 counties to experience outage

The Kenya Power has announced that nine counties will experience power outages on Thursday, October, 12, 2023.

The utility company has provided a summary detailing the regions impacted and their respective power interruption timings.

The nine counties slated for these outages include Nairobi, Machakos, Trans Nzoia, Kisumu, Kakamega, Vihiga, Nyeri, Kiambu, and Kirinyaga.

In Nairobi, parts of Lower Kabete Rd, Farasi Lane, KSG, Part of Ngecha Rd, Saunders CI, Mwimuto, NSSF Kitisuru, Tate Close, Forward Close, and adjacent areas will experience power cuts from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Trans Nzoia County residents in areas such as Kiminini, Sikhendu, Ndalu, Brigidia, Soysambu, Tongaren, Mltoto, Minyali, Kikwamet, Wehonya, Kabuyefwe, Babton, Matunda Roadblock, Sabata, Namunyiri, West Kenya Sugar Water Pump and adjacent customers will be without electricity from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

In Machakos County, the neighbourhoods of Kalima, Kathel, Kiasa, Kyumbi Sec, Dima, Lower Kalimani, Inspector Mwala, and adjacent customers will face a power outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Kisumu County’s areas of Muhoroni Town, Agro-Chemical Lagoon, Nyayo, Koru County Club, Kandiege, Kotetni, Kapkoro, Mariwa, and adjacent customers are expected to experience power disruptions from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Additionally, in Vihiga county areas of Radio Anyole, Radio Samaritan, Ilonje, Ebulondi, Ebukolo, Embali Police station, Esibakala, Emmabwi, Hon Marende Water Plant and areas close to them will not have power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Kakamega County, areas of West Kenya Sugar, Kalenda, Malava, Shandereme, Kambiri, Kambi Mwanza, Musaga Mkt, Samurai, Shemberere, TTI, and adjacent customers will have their power supply interrupted from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.

In the Mt Kenya Region, Nyeri County, areas of Ihwagi, Giakaibei, Gikumbo, and adjacent locations will be without power from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm while in Kirinyaga County, areas of Makutano, PI, Mutithi will experience power disruptions from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.

In the North Eastern Region, Kiambu County will be the only county facing power blackouts with areas of Gatuanyaga, Kisii Estate, and their adjacent locations experiencing power cuts from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
