Luo gospel singer Mourine Awuor, widely known by her stage name Nyar Jerusalem, sent shockwaves through her online community after sharing a post that many found deeply unsettling.
The message read:
“I’m about to make a decision that even I am not happy with…But I don’t have any options … May God help me.”
The vague but heavy-sounding words quickly drew concern from fans who flooded her comments urging her to seek help.
TikToker African Queen, who describes herself as a close friend of the singer, stepped in to shed light on what was actually going on.
In a TikTok video, she addressed her followers with genuine concern as she unpacked what Mourine had confided in her during a private phone call.
What happened to Mourine Awuor Nyar Jerusalem
According to African Queen, the singer was not in any personal danger but was overwhelmed by the collapse of plans for a gospel event she had been working hard to organise.
Mourine reportedly told her that she had been spending between KSh 24,000 and KSh 25,000 weekly on preparations, covering band costs and other event expenses.
With the October launch date approaching and things falling apart, she was weighing whether to cancel the entire project.
African Queen said she pleaded with Mourine to hold on, and then turned to her followers for help.
She called on Luo TikTokers who regularly go live to temporarily shift to Mourine’s platform, so they could rally support around her.
Fans rally behind the gospel singer
African Queen asked followers to contribute from as little as KSh 100 to help Mourine continue with her ministry and not abandon her calling.
She framed the appeal in faith-driven terms, describing the singer as a humble woman genuinely committed to spreading the gospel.
