Kenyan TikToker and comedian Bill Rono, widely known as Ronoo, is grieving the loss of his mother, Rebecca Chebet Maru, who passed away on October 2, after suffering internal bleeding in the brain.
In a deeply moving Instagram post shared on Monday, October 5, Ronoo revealed that the last photo ever taken of his mother was captured during one of her races in the USA on the very same day she died.
What was Ronoo’s mum’s last photo?
The image shows Rebecca mid-race, smiling and full of energy, with a scoreboard in the background clearly displaying the date October 2, 2026.
“This is my beautiful mum, Rebecca Chebet Maru, during one of her races in the USA,” Ronoo wrote alongside the photo.
“She was strong, joyful, and full of life, and this photo captures one of those beautiful moments. Behind her, you can see the date October 2, 2026, the very day she passed away. It feels like a heartbreaking yet beautiful reminder that the memories she created will forever live on with us.”
The photo has struck a raw nerve with thousands of people online, many of whom were moved by the bitter irony of Rebecca being photographed at peak joy just hours before her death.
The post drew an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow content creators alike.
Ronoo also called on his followers to support the family during this difficult period, asking anyone who wished to contribute to do so in any amount.
