Twin sisters Dr. Hadiya Abdullahi Usman and Pharm. Aida Abdullahi Usman died within two days of each other in early October 2026, leaving their family and wider community heartbroken by a loss that many have described as almost impossible to comprehend.

Dr Hadiya reportedly passed away on Thursday night, October 1, 2026, and was buried the following day in keeping with Islamic tradition.

Her twin sister, Pharm. Aida, died just two days later and was also laid to rest according to Islamic rites.

Who is Hadiza Abdullahi Usman?

The sisters are the daughters of Prof. Hadiza Abdullahi Usman, Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Nguru, and Dr Usman Abdullahi.

The news spread rapidly across social media as friends, colleagues and well-wishers struggled to find words adequate to the scale of the tragedy.

Ahmad Yahaya, who shared a tribute on Facebook on Monday, October 5, 2026, captured what many were feeling.

Is death inevitable?

“They came into this world together, and, SubhanAllah, they have now left it together,” he wrote, adding that their departure so close to one another served as “a profound reminder to us all that death is inevitable.”

The pain of losing two daughters, both of them professionals, and both within the space of a single week, has drawn an outpouring of condolences directed especially towards their mother.

For many who commented online, it is the image of Prof. Hadiza, a senior medical figure, burying not one but two children in quick succession that has made the loss feel so overwhelming.

Yahaya extends prayers to deceased’s parents

Several tributes shared across Facebook noted that both women had dedicated their lives to service, one as a medical doctor and the other as a pharmacist, and called on Allah to accept their deeds and grant them the highest ranks of paradise.

“May Allah, the Most Merciful, forgive their shortcomings, have mercy upon their souls, illuminate and widen their graves, and grant them Jannatul Firdaus,” Yahaya wrote, extending prayers also to their father, mother, siblings and all who knew and loved them.

Others echoed the sentiment that the timing of their deaths, so close together, carried a meaning beyond ordinary understanding. Many invoked the Quranic verse: “Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.”
