Kenyan media personality Tony Mwirigi has marked nine years since he moved to Nairobi, a journey he says has taught him important lessons about consistency, humility and knowing when to remain silent.

Mwirigi shared the reflection on his Instagram page on Sunday, September 6, 2026, looking back at the day he arrived in Nairobi with a clear goal of pursuing his studies.

He recalled travelling to the city by bus nine years ago to study Journalism and Mass Communication.

Arriving in Nairobi with a dream

According to Mwirigi, his move to Nairobi was driven by one main ambition: getting an education and building a career in journalism.

Looking back, he said the past nine years have brought him more experiences and blessings than he could have imagined when he first arrived in the city.

“Nine years later, God has been incredibly faithful. He has done so many great things in my life that I couldn’t possibly list them all,” he said.

The milestone has also allowed him to reflect on what he has learnt since settling in Nairobi.

Lessons from the city

Mwirigi said living in Nairobi has taught him that personal growth does not only come from achievements but also from how one handles different situations.

He highlighted consistency and humility as some of the values that have helped him along the way. He also noted that people do not always need to respond to every situation they face.

“Sometimes, choosing silence and focusing on your purpose is the greatest strength,” he said. The media personality said the lessons have shaped how he approaches life as he continues working towards his goals.

Dreams and answered prayers

Mwirigi also used the milestone to reflect on some of the things he once prayed for and how his life has turned out differently from what he had imagined.

He recalled once praying to own a Mercedes-Benz C200 but said he instead received an Atenza worth more than Ksh1 million. For him, the experience is a reminder that prayers may be answered in ways and at times that people do not expect.

“That alone reminds me that God answers prayers in His own perfect timing. I’m deeply grateful for every blessing, and I firmly believe that one day I’ll own both,” he said.

Looking ahead

As he marked the nine-year milestone, Mwirigi said his prayer is for wisdom, good health and lasting happiness as he continues with his journey. Mwirigi ended his message by giving thanks for how far he has come while remaining focused on the dreams he still hopes to achieve.

For him, nine years in Nairobi have been about more than the passage of time. They have been a period of learning, growth, faith, and setting new goals for the future.
