#Transfer: Chelsea confirm deal for Acheampong

Chelsea on Wednesday confirmed that academy defender Josh-Kofi Acheampong has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The Blues disclosed this in a statement via its website.

Acheampong who will turn 17 in May, joined the west London club as an Under-8 in the past.

He has progressed through the youth ranks at Cobham.

The versatile defender has been a regular for the club’s Under-18s this season and has featured for the Under-21s.

“We are thrilled that Josh has committed his future to the club,” said Head of youth development and recruitment, Jim Fraser told Chelsea’s website.

“He has taken another step forward in his development this season.”
