Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone has hit back at forward Joao Felix, insisting “nobody is bigger than the club”.

This comes after Felix admitted his desire to join Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona, causing a commotion with his current employers.

Speaking with AS, Simeone also refused to answer questions about Felix’s future.

Simeone said, “The main focus is the team. It is normal that in the press the focus is on whether he [Felix] stays or leaves.

“I already said that there is no one more important than the club, with no exceptions. It is impossible to be clearer than that.”

Felix returned to Atletico Madrid this summer after spending a six-month loan deal at Chelsea.

The Portugal international is keen to leave Someone’s side this summer transfer window.
