Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has reacted to the club’s latest recruit, Romeo Lavia.

Chelsea on Friday announced the signing of Lavia from Southampton.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League tie with West Ham United, Pochettino described Lavia as the perfect player for his project at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino said: “We all know Romeo and his quality, his profile. I think he is a perfect player for this project. We are excited, and we are so happy to add him to the squad.”

He added: “The club worked really hard on these signings. We have to congratulate the owners and the sporting directors, Laurence [Stewart] and Paul [Winstanley], because the job was amazing. To add these types of players like Moises and Romeo, and all the previous signings, is fantastic for the club.”
