Police in Ruiru, Kiambu County have arrested two suspected drug traffickers and seized 800 rolls of bhang.

Tyson Mwai, 30, and Samson Gathuki, 21, were apprehended at Kimbo area during a sting operation led by Mugutha Police Station officers and local National Government Administration Officers (NGAO).

“Authorities not only seized the rolls but also discovered a range of bhang packaged in sachets: 13 polythene sachets of 35 grams each, five sachets weighing 130 grams, 44 sachets of 16 grams, and two digital weighing machines, signalling a well-organized trafficking operation,” said the DCI in a statement on X.

The pair remain in police custody pending arraignment.

In a separate incident in Moyale, officers on patrol intercepted a motorcycle, registration number KMGM 369D, carrying 100 kilograms of bhang.

“The rider abandoned the motorcycle and fled. Upon inspecting the luggage, officers found twenty bales of bhang inside the sacks, totalling approximately 100kgs,” said the DCI.

“The recovered narcotics and motorcycle are securely detained as exhibits.”

A manhunt is currently underway for the suspect who evaded arrest.
