Two suspects involved in the illegal trade of pesticides have been arrested in Mtondia, Kilifi County.

Pest Control Products Board (PCPB) senior compliance and enforcement officer Karisa Mududu said the two were found with pesticides worth approximately Ksh. 400,000.

This followed an operation between police officers and officials from the board.

“We conducted a raid on counterfeit pesticides in Kilifi, leading to the capture of the two suspects,” police said.

Mududu added that the suspects are currently in custody at the Kilifi police station and are facing charges of selling counterfeit pesticides.

He also warned the public to be cautious when purchasing pesticides from unauthorized stores to help combat the illegal sale of counterfeit products.
