The suspects, only known by their aliases Rundo and Mulinyo, were pursued by the undercover detectives after tips by members of the public to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The notorious gangsters that have been terrorizing locals in Nairobi’s Kibera area and its environs were on Wednesday gunned down in a fire exchange with Kilimani-based detectives.
Police said after getting wind that they were pursuing them, one of the gangsters brandished the firearm and started shooting indiscriminately at the officers.
“The wrong move prompted the ever-agile sleuths to respond with finality, fatally injuring the duo,” DCI said in a report.
Six rounds of 9mm ammunition, seven spent cartridges and four bullet heads were recovered alongside the firearm, and the bodies were removed to a city mortuary for identification.
