Two people died after an accident involving a matatu and a motorcycle at Sagana on Sunday night.
According to Kirinyaga West sub-county police commander Wilson Koskei, the accident occurred at around 7 pm along Sagana-Karatina road.
Koskei said the motorcycle was heading towards Sagana and on reaching the scene of the accident, it lost control and collided with the matatu, injuring the rider and pillion passenger.
While the two were pronounced dead on arrival at Sagana sub-county hospital, commotion ensued at the hospital.
Angry residents stormed the premise, pretesting over what they termed as poor management.
“There are no drugs in this hospital, no first aid. It should be closed because it is not helping us at all, ‘ Peter Ndirangu said.
Residents living along the busy makutano-sagana-Karatina highway, which is under construction, have expressed fears that the road will claim more lives if dangers are not addressed soon.
The motorcycle and the matatu involved in the accident were taken to Sagana police station awaiting inspection.
