Tragedy struck at Ainamoi Police Station in Ainamoi Sub-County, Kericho County, after two police officers were electrocuted while attempting to install a radio signal mast at the station.

The incident occurred when two officers—one from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the other from the general police service—were overcome by the weight of the mast, which collapsed and came into contact with live electricity cables from a nearby power line.

According to a local administration officer, the collapse happened unexpectedly, and both officers died instantly from the electric shock.

An ordinary citizen who was assisting the officers suffered minor injuries after being knocked to the ground by a mild shock. He is currently being treated at Ainamoi Health Centre and is said to be in stable condition.

The bodies of the two officers were removed from the scene and are thought to have been taken to Lazarus Funeral Home at Siloam Hospital in Kericho town.
