Two National Police Reservists (NPRs) were arrested in Loruk, Baringo North Sub-county, on Thursday in connection with the murder of Chief Victor Pkukat of Loruk Location, Tiaty East.

The suspects, Zakayo Komen Miningo and Jonathan Sirma Cherutoi, were apprehended by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters Homicide Unit, who have been pursuing leads in the case since March.

The chief’s killing had been documented under OB No. 11/21/03/2025 at Tangulbei Police Station.

According to police, the two officers are believed to have been involved in the fatal shooting of the chief, an incident that triggered outrage and demands for justice across the region.

The suspects were swiftly escorted to Nairobi for further interrogation and legal processing as investigations intensify.

Chief Pkukat’s death had left the local community shaken, with leaders calling for increased protection of public officials working in high-risk and remote areas.

Authorities have assured the public that thorough investigations are underway and urged residents to remain calm.
