On Saturday, the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) in Malindi apprehended two suspected traffickers in possession of bhang valued at Ksh. 12 million, weighing over 429kg.
Responding to a tip-off, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers learned that a truck driven by Joseph Nzomo, 28, and his conductor Auress Godfrey, 27, was to transport the contraband.
Following the leads, the officers swiftly ambushed the unsuspecting duo at an open field as they prepared to load seven sacks of the prohibited herb. The suspects were then escorted to Mariakani Police Station, where the truck was also impounded.
This arrest is part of a heightened crackdown on the sale of illicit drugs and substances in the country, with authorities warning that they will not spare anyone found culpable.
