Police in Ruai have shot dead two armed suspects who are believed to have been terrorising residents and carrying out a series of robberies in Nairobi and its outskirts.

According to Ruai Deputy County Intelligence Officer (DCIO) Henry Kinyua, the suspects had stolen a licensed firearm from an individual a week earlier, which they were reportedly using in their criminal activities.

Kinyua said the suspects opened fire on pursuing officers after police received intelligence from the public that the duo was planning a robbery in Ruai.

During the operation, police recovered the stolen pistol, 13 rounds of ammunition, two mobile phones, and five spent cartridges.

The DCIO urged members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement, noting that community information is crucial in enhancing local security.

Residents have praised the swift police action, saying that the recovered firearm, if left in criminal hands, could have continued to threaten the safety of the neighborhood.
