Two suspects belonging to a suspected sim-card fraud syndicate operating in Bomet, Kericho and Nakuru Counties have been apprehended.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported on Wednesday that Kevin Kiplangat aka Elvis, 31 and Evan Kiprotich Chirchir aka Protio, 22 were arrested in Mulot and Chepalungu areas of Bomet respectively.

DCI adds that the two were apprehended following complaints of sim swap fraud by members of the public.

They are being held at Litein Police Station pending arraignment at the Kericho Law Courts for a violent robbery reported on December 29, 2023.

According to the DCI, the suspects will also be processed by other stations where electronic fraud cases implicating them have been reported.
