Two suspects have pleaded not guilty to two criminal counts of alleged fraud involving a prime parcel of land in Mwea-West sub-county, Kirinyaga County.

Peter Macharia Kariuki and Henry Nguma Kamwere were arraigned before Baricho Senior Principal Magistrate Stephen Nyaga on charges of obtaining money by false pretence contrary to section 313 of the Penal Code.

The two are said to have committed the offence on August 18, 2016, at Makutano area where they jointly obtained Ksh.300.000 from Andrew Ngirici by falsely pretending that they were in a position to sell to him the land.

The duo is also said that on August 22, 2016, further obtained Ksh.1.2 million from Ngirici.

Ngiricis’s lawyer Mungai Kibuti wanted the suspects to be denied release but Magistrate Nyaga granted them a surety bond of Ksh.200,000 each

The case is set to be mentioned on March 12.

Meanwhile, a spectacle was witnessed at the court after Ngririci and his supporters attempted to disrupt the court proceedings prompting police to intervene and flush out the rowdy supporters from the court.
