Uasin Gishu County Assembly is scheduled to vet Deputy Governor nominee Evans Kapkea on Tuesday, beginning the process to fill the position vacated by Eng. John Barorot in August.
Kapkea, 34, previously represented Tembelio Ward as a Member of the County Assembly. If successfully vetted, he will become Uasin Gishu County’s third deputy governor. Eng. John Barorot, who served as deputy governor for two years, resigned on August 21, 2024, to assume a new role as CEO of an international ICT firm.
MCAs, led by Kiplombe ward representative Gilbert Lagat, have expressed their support for Kapkea, emphasizing his qualifications and experience working with Governor Jonathan Bii. Kapkea has held key positions, including Chairperson of the County Assembly’s Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, and Investment Committee, as well as memberships in the Budget, Finance, and Appropriations Committee, Health Committee, and Delegated Legislation.
