Two people aged under 25 years have died after drowning in dams in separate incidents in Uasin Gishu County.

In the first case, a male domestic worker is said to have drowned while trying to rescue a sheep that had fallen into the dam in the Kimuri area.

The other case in the Cheptiret area involved a man said to have taken off his clothes and entered the dam despite it being flooded.

The head of the county’s fire department Wanyama Sitati said they had removed the bodies of the deceased to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary in Eldoret.

He further urged area residents to be cautious and avoid flooded areas during this rainy season.
