Some former footballers, including ex-Manchester City star Nedum Onuoha and former Chelsea player Chris Sutton, have predicted the team they believe will win this year’s UEFA Champions League trophy.

This comes following the conclusion of the Champions League quarter-final second leg fixtures on Wednesday.

Recall that Arsenal defeated Real Madrid to book their place in the semi-final.

Inter Milan also defeated Bayern Munich 4-3 on aggregate, with the second leg tie ending in a 2-2 draw at San Siro.

Both Arsenal and Inter Milan joined Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona in the semi-final.

Barcelona and PSG had earlier knocked out Dortmund and Aston Villa, respectively, from the Champions League on Tuesday.

Stating his prediction for the team to win the Champions League this season, Onuoha backed Arsenal.

“As I look at the two ties left now, I think it’s going to be one of the first-time winners, so either Arsenal or PSG, whoever comes through their semi-final,” Onuoha told BBC Sport.

“That’s a shame for one of them because they are the two best teams in the competition. It’s very hard to choose between the two, but I am going to go for Arsenal.”

On his part, Sutton picked PSG to win the Champions League.

“I just think PSG are such a well-balanced team,” Sutton said.

“They have got rid of all the big hitters now. They’ve got Ligue 1 wrapped up already, so they can concentrate on the Champions League, and they just ooze class and quality.”

Similarly, former England defender Matt Upson added: “It’s easy to change your opinion once you get through another set of games, but I’m going to stick with my gut feeling of PSG to win the competition. I think they have been standout performers all the way through.”
