Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has criticized Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta over a ‘nonsense’ claim he made about the Gunners following their Champions League exit on Wednesday.

Recall that Arsenal were eliminated from the Champions League in the semi-final stage at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.

The Parisians won 2-1 and advance to the Champions League final on a 3-1 aggregate win.

Following the match at the Parc des Princes, Arteta claimed at his post-match interview that Arsenal had been the better team across the two legs.

However, Carragher disagreed with Arteta’s comments.

“When a manager speaks straight after the game he is obviously still emotional,” Carragher said on CBS Sports.

“I have seen another interview where he said he feels Arsenal have been the best team in the Champions League this season on what they have done. That is nonsense, they are not.

“He said something similar the other day about Liverpool’s points tally. He’s just an emotional manager at the moment.”
