Businessman and politician Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop, commonly known as Buzeki, has criticized the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and its new ally, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), for failing to address Kenya’s economic challenges.

In a post on his official X account on August 17, 2024, Buzeki accused the UDA, led by President William Ruto, of shirking responsibility for the economic burden created by debts accumulated by previous administrations. He argued that Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga have been active in politics for over two decades and have profited significantly from their political roles.

Buzeki claims that both Ruto and Raila have amassed considerable wealth through their positions and should be held accountable for the current economic issues facing the country.

“UDA should not claim that they are unfortunate to have ascended to power at a time when debts by successive governments are burgeoning the economy.

The UDA leadership, including Tinga, who has now joined the government as an economic fixer, have been involved in politics for more than two decades and have significantly benefited and acquired wealth by virtue of political positions,” Buzeki stated.

In his statement, Buzeki further asserted that both Ruto and Raila should not offer excuses, as they have directly contributed to the nation’s worsening economic situation over the years.

He emphasized that the ruling UDA, together with the opposition’s ODM, must take responsibility for the struggling economy and focus on finding practical solutions rather than relying on theoretical explanations.

“Therefore, they should not make excuses when they have squarely contributed to the country’s deteriorating economic situation over time and continuing…UDA must take responsibility for the struggling economy alongside ODM and work towards resolving it without too many theories. Just fix the mess you have created over time and stop digging the holes further, otherwise legacies will go KAPUTT,” Buzeki said.

UDA should not CLAIM  that they are unfortunate to have ASCENDED  to power at a time when debts by SUCCESSIVE governments are BURGEONING the economy. The UDA leadership, including TINGA, who has now JOINED GOVERNMENT  as an ECONOMIC FIXER , have been involved in politics for more…

The Orange party secured the four cabinet slots after Raila endorsed President Ruto’s call for a dialogue approach to solving the issues raised by Gen Zs during the widespread protests.

However, both Ruto and Raila have publicly denied the existence of any coalition agreement between the ruling UDA party and ODM.

Speaking in Nyamira and Kisii counties on his first day of a three-day inspection of development projects on Monday, August 12, 2024, Ruto said the two political formations have agreed to join forces to help confront the challenges facing Kenyans.

The Head of State said the arrangement is not guided by selfish, personal or political party interests but by the well-being of the people of Kenya.
