UDA candidates win Endo and Porro Wards by-elections

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidates have emerged victorious in the Endo and Porro ward by-elections held on Thursday in Elgeyo Marakwet and Samburu counties, respectively.

In Endo Ward, Elgeyo Marakwet County, UDA candidate Festus Korir Kiprop was declared the winner after garnering 4,475 votes.

According to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Shadrack Kosgei Chelang’a of the National Development Party (NDP) finished second with 752 votes.

Out of 14,361 registered voters in the ward, 5,260 cast their ballots, translating to a voter turnout of 36.59 per cent.

The Endo Ward MCA seat fell vacant following the death of Jeremiah Biwott in January 2026 while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital.

Meanwhile, in Porro Ward, Samburu County, UDA candidate Daniel Lolngojine won the by-election after securing 2,328 votes.

IEBC declared Josphat Jumani Leleur of KANU the runner-up with 1,036 votes.

A total of 4,194 votes were cast out of 6,358 registered voters, representing a voter turnout of 65.96 per cent.

The Porro Ward seat became vacant after the death of MCA Patrick Lerte in December 2025 while receiving treatment at the Samburu County Referral Hospital.

The ward by-elections were conducted alongside the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary by-election in Narok County, where voters turned out to elect a replacement for the late MP Johana Ng’eno, who died in a helicopter crash on February 28, 2026.

UDA similarly triumphed with its candidate, David Kipsang Keter, securing 18,266 votes across the 94 polling stations in the constituency, emerging ahead of his closest challenger, Vincent Kibet Rotich of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), who garnered 10,760 votes.

Other candidates in the race included Gideon Koech of the NVPK Party, who received 190 votes, while Desma Cherono of PNU garnered 80 votes. Kiprono Rotich of the RLP party trailed with 62 votes.
