A 24-year-old Ugandan national, Tom Ssekamwa, has been arrested in Masvingo, Zimbabwe, after being caught in possession of s3x toys and assorted items.

Ssekamwa appeared at the Masvingo Magistrates Court following his arrest, facing charges of contravening the Censorship and Entertainment Control Act or criminal nuisance.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) revealed that the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) received an anonymous tip-off on Thursday, August 1, 2024, leading to the arrest. According to the NPA, the tip-off indicated that Ssekamwa had s3x toys at Backpackers Rest Budget Accommodation in Masvingo.

“It is the State’s case that on August 1st, 2024, the police received a tip-off that the accused person was in possession of sex toys at Backpackers Rest Budget Accommodation in Masvingo. The police acted on the tip-off, proceeded to the said place, and conducted a search, which allegedly led to the discovery of sex toys and a lubricant for men from the accused person’s bag. The accused person was arrested,” the NPA stated.

Ssekamwa appeared before the Masvingo Magistrates Court today, August 6, for his bail ruling. Under Zimbabwe’s censorship and entertainment control law, possessing or selling adult t0ys is illegal. In 2022, a popular social media character also faced legal trouble for blatantly peddling and dealing with adult t0ys.
