Over 400 cows were allegedly stolen by the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) soldiers in Kacheliba Sub County, West Pokot County on Wednesday, November 29.

Lopeta Nduywa, who was grazing the herd of cattle which included some belonging to his brother Tukuk Rodinyo, reported that at around 3:00 PM, UPDF soldiers forcefully seized the cattle and drove them towards Uganda.

The incident has since been reported to Kanyerus Police post for investigation.

This escapade follows a clash on Tuesday, November 28, in the Lochacha village of West Pokot, where six people were killed amid a stand-off between cattle rustlers and residents.

Three locals pursuing the rustlers were allegedly killed by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers, while locals managed to kill three other rustlers who had made away with an unknown number of goats.

Sixteen others who sustained injuries are currently receiving treatment

In a separate incident in Elgeyo Marakwet, Pokot bandits ambushed a herder on Tuesday, November 29, resulting in the death of 28-year-old Kirotich Kilimo who was grazing cattle.

Despite efforts to save him, Kilimo succumbed to the serious gunshot injuries he sustained at Endo Mission hospital.
