The Commission for University Education (CUE) has approved Zetech University’s request to expand its course offerings by allowing the institution to enroll students in three new postgraduate programs. The private university will now offer a Master’s in ICT, a Master’s in Computer Science, and a PhD in Computer Science.
This announcement was made by the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Njenga Munene, during the university’s innovation week. He stated that the introduction of these programs aligns with the university’s efforts to expand its undergraduate course offerings. Speaking at the university’s Mang’u campus in Juja, Munene noted that enrollment is ongoing, and training will commence in September.
Additionally, he revealed that the university plans to introduce Bachelor’s programs in Education Science, Nursing, and Laboratory Technology.
“We are at the advanced stages of setting up Science Laboratories in this campus to support our STEM initiatives and programs, including the upcoming BEd. Science, BSc. Nursing and Laboratory Technology courses,” Prof Munene said.
Prof Munene said that the University will in a few months’ time roll out other courses for Degree, Diploma and Certificate students.
“The launch of the Postgraduate program in Masters ICT and Masters in Computer Science and PhD in Computer Science all which have been approved by the Commission for University Education (CUE) and will be available from September this year. We are also considering adding more courses on our programmes list that will be beneficial to our students. Our determination is to impart the requisite skills and knowledge in diverse fields to our students that will shape their career lives,” he said.
With the growing student population and the increased demand for housing for students, Prof. Munene divulged that plans are at an advanced stage to put up an ultra-modern student accommodation facility in Mang’u campus.
On his part, the University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academics, Research, Extension and Student Affairs Prof Alice Njuguna, noted that the curricula for the courses has been developed with significant contribution from the Varsity academic division and relevant industry players,
“The addition of new courses to our programmes list is a testament to the growth of the University and we have worked hard to ensure we put together content that is current, experiential and of the highest standards,” said Prof Njuguna.
