Seasoned radio host Edward Carey Kwach has died.
Family spokesperson Michael Okwiri reported that the beloved radio presenter died on Monday night while receiving treatment for meningitis.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our cherished son and brother, Carey, which occurred on the night of April 28, 2025,” Okwiri stated.
The family reflected on Kwach’s impactful career, noting that his voice and presence resonated with many listeners nationwide.
“He will be remembered not only for his warmth and humor but also for his exceptional taste in music, which brought joy and comfort to countless people.”
Hot 96 FM presenter Nick Odhiambo, Kwach’s cousin, honored him as a trailblazer in the radio industry.
“When he entered radio in the 90s, it made my dream of joining the field feel more attainable. We enjoyed a friendly rivalry, and it’s heartbreaking to think that some of our shared ideas will never come to fruition. I will continue to keep that dream alive!”
Colleagues, including Carol Radull, expressed their grief on social media. “Heartbreaking. A colleague and a friend. Rest in peace, Edward Kwach,” Radull lamented.
Kwach’s employer, Spice FM, also mourned the loss. “This is a somber morning for us. We dedicate today’s show to our fallen brother, Edward Kwach. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
“One of the best things to ever happen to me was meeting Edward Carey Francis Kwach…. his energy and go getter attitude certainly rubbed off on us,” Maina Kageni added.
Bryan Amulyoto, a colleague, contributed, “Edward Kwach, may you rest in peace, Babaa.”
His passing comes shortly after the family made a public appeal for blood donations during his hospitalization.
“We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support during his illness, particularly to those who donated blood, visited, and kept him in their thoughts and prayers,” the family expressed.
Kwach had stints at Hot 96 FM, Nation FM, Capital FM, Homeboyz radio, and most recently, Spice FM.
