Wedding fever has hit Mwanza, Tanzania, with a video offering the first glimpse of the grand preparations underway for President William Ruto’s daughter Charlene Ruto’s white wedding to Tanzanian tech entrepreneur Isaya Yunge.

The clip, shared on Instagram by @uncledgar on Monday, 3 November, shows a towering branded perimeter wall erected at what appears to be the entrance of the wedding venue in Mwanza, Isaya’s hometown.

The wall carries a bold message: “Welcome to our wedding, Charlene & Isaya,” framed in soft pink and white floral patterns.

Large portrait photographs of the couple in formal attire adorn the display, with Charlene dressed in a sleek black outfit and Isaya in a sharp suit, the two posed together warmly.

In the video, watermarked by BNN and set to upbeat African pop music, pedestrians and locals are seen pausing to photograph the display. Palm trees and a modern structure visible in the background suggest a posh hotel or lakeside resort as the chosen setting.

Bridal shower to white wedding

Earlier the same day, Charlene celebrated her last days as a single woman at a lavish bridal shower in Nairobi, surrounded by her sister Stephanie Jepchumba and close friends.

The event featured a “Miss Babe to Mrs Babe” themed cake and a decorative “Welcome to Charlene’s bridal shower” arch, with the colour palette mirroring the soft pinks and whites on display at the Tanzanian venue.

The couple’s union has been a series of milestone celebrations. They formalised their relationship at a traditional Kalenjin Koito ceremony on 8 August, 2026, held at Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris. The white wedding in Tanzania marks the next major chapter.

Who is Isaya Yunge?

Isaya Yunge is a Tanzanian tech entrepreneur and the founder of SomaApps, an ed-tech venture based in Mwanza.

His family appears to be pulling out all the stops to welcome Kenya’s first daughter, with the elaborate venue branding signalling that the celebrations on the Tanzanian side will be anything but modest.
