The Vihiga County government has begun renovations at Mumboha Sports Ground with the aim of raising the status of the field to the required FKF standards for hosting top-tier matches.

At the moment, the county government, through the department of Sports, has already fixed three gates with a chain link that will separate fans from invading the pitch during matches, besides the ongoing painting work.

Bunyore Starlets chairman Moses Mabwa revealed that the ongoing construction work had been scheduled before the kick-off of the current FKF Premier League season.

“We are grateful to the county government for beginning phase one of the renovation works that will cost about SH 2M.

“Phase two will focus on the playing surface that will have a complete overhaul with a proper drainage system,” Mabwa said.

“I plead with the county government to complete phase one so that we can have extra fans stands done, a perimeter wall to secure Mumboha Secondary and the stadium and a good playing surface,” he said.

Bunyore Starlets are now considering looking for an alternative ground since Mumboha Sports Ground will be unavailable for sporting activities when phase two of the renovations begin.
