The East African Breweries Limited (EABL) has announced a full refund for all ticket holders of the second day of the WalkerTown festival, which took place on Sunday at Kasarani, Nairobi. In a statement issued on Monday, EABL expressed its apologies for the disruptions that marred the festival, where concert-goers were forced to endure heavy rains that delayed the headlining performances.
The brewer acknowledged that the rain caused delays in the performance of the much-anticipated artist, Lauryn Hill, and led to the cancellation of Nyashinski’s set, which disappointed many attendees. EABL stated, “This resulted in the delayed performance by Miss Lauryn Hill and, regrettably, the cancellation of our brand partner Nyashinski’s performance, which deeply impacted the overall festival experience.”
As a gesture of goodwill, EABL assured ticket holders that they will receive a full refund within the next two weeks, emphasizing their commitment to fairness and the trust placed in them by the public. “This is a reflection of our commitment to fairness and respect for the trust you placed in us,” EABL said.
The company also apologized to the affected fans, artists, and partners, vowing to improve the quality of concert experiences in future events.
By Monday morning, frustrated attendees had taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the event, with many demanding refunds. Some criticized the poor sound quality and the delayed start, with Lauryn Hill reportedly taking the stage at 3 am. One user on X commented, “She was the only one who performed. Can’t really blame Nyashinski—the sound quality and timing were off, making it impossible to deliver a great show.”
